About this webinar

In English-speaking countries the term parish records includes more than only church books. In this webinar we zoom in on the most important Dutch sources that include information about life events, such as church books and a few equivalent records. We discuss the commencement of the registration, the differences between Catholic and Protestant registers, what challenges the use of (specific) language, dates and names brings. We take a look at different examples of records: baptisms, marriages, burials, circumcisions and church membership. This webinar will help you get the basics of genealogy in the Netherlands before the commence of civil registration in 1811.
